  • Heat barbecue to medium heat.
  • Combine tomatoes and basil; set aside. Mix turkey, bread crumbs, garlic and 1/4 cup barbecue sauce just until blended; shape into 4 (1/2-inch-thick) patties.
  • Grill patties 7 to 8 min. on each side or until done (165°F), adding buns, cut sides down, to barbecue for the last minute to toast to desired doneness.
  • Spread bottom halves of buns with remaining barbecue sauce. Cover with burgers, tomato mixture and tops of buns.

Use Your Broiler

You don't have to wait for outdoor grilling season to enjoy these delicious burgers. To prepare indoors, heat broiler. Shape turkey mixture into patties as directed; place on broiler pan sprayed with cooking spray. Broil, 6 inches from heat, 5 to 7 min. on each side or until done. Turkey burgers are cooked when a digital meat thermometer inserted into the centres of the burgers register 165ºF.

How to Chop Fresh Herbs

To easily chop fresh leafy herbs, such as cilantro, parsley, basil, mint and sage, pick the leaves from the stems and place on a cutting board. Using a chef's knife and holding the tip end down, cut back and forth across the herbs. Be sure that your knife is sharp - a dull knife will bruise the leaves. For best results, use the herbs as soon as possible after chopping.
