  • COMBINE apple slices and granulated sugar and spoon into greased 8-inch (2L/20cm) square pan. Set aside.
  • CREAM margarine and brown sugar. Beat in egg.
  • COMBINE cracker crumbs, flour, baking powder, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Add to creamed mixture with milk, beating until well blended.
  • SPREAD over apples in pan.
  • BAKE at 350°F (180°C) for about 35 minutes. Serve warm, apple side up.

    Easy and quick to make. Delicious too! I found I needed to cut back the cooking time to 30 minutes. If I'd done it any longer, it would've been overdone.

    Very easy to make and everyone to whom I served it to found it very very tasty. All were very surprised about the soda biscuits that are used in making this cake. One would think that it would have a salty taste but instead it has a nice spicy taste. Simply deliscious.
