  • Preheat broiler. Place dressing and basil in blender container; cover. Blend to form a paste. Spread about 1/4 tsp. of the dressing mixture onto each bread slice; place on rack of broiler pan. Broil 4 inches from heat 1 min. or until lightly toasted. Set aside. (Cover and refrigerate remaining dressing mixture for another use.)
  • Pour salsa into small shallow ovenproof dish. Spoon cream cheese over salsa; sprinkle with Parmesan cheese. Broil 5 min. or until Parmesan cheese is golden brown. Garnish with additional chopped fresh basil, if desired.
  • Serve with the toast slices.


Prepare as directed, using green tomatillo salsa.

Use leftover basil paste to liven up your sandwiches. Simply spread on bread slices before layering with your favourite sandwich ingredients.

    I loved this! Instead of the French loaf, I used a box of crunchy bread crackers. My 9 & 12 year old were scared to try it at first but then once they did, I couldn't get them away from it. This will definitely be at my next party.
