  • Melt chocolate as directed on package; cool slightly.
  • Beat cream cheese and butter in large bowl with mixer until blended. Add chocolate and vanilla; mix well.
  • Add sugar gradually, beating after each addition until light and fluffy.

Note

Recipe makes enough to frost tops and sides of 2 (8- or 9-inch) cake layers, top and sides of 13x9-inch cake, tops of 3 (8- or 9-inch) cake layers or 24 cupcakes.

Special Extra

For a perfectly smooth frosting, measure the icing sugar, then sift it with a hand sifter or mesh strainer before adding it to the cream cheese mixture.
