Preheat barbecue, turning off the burner on one side of the barbecue. Place chicken, breast-side up, in shallow disposable aluminium baking pan. Place pan on unlit side of barbecue; cover barbecue with lid. Continue as directed, grilling for 1 hour 45 min. or until juices run clear and chicken is cooked through (170ºF).

If you are using a lemon for grated peel and juice, grate the peel first and then squeeze the juice. You can also freeze any leftover grated lemon peel.

Fantastic - I've made this several times and it's always a big hit for every day dinners and dinners with guests - talk about easy too. I use diced garlic from a jar and I just fill the lemon halves with some each and stuff them in the chicken like that!! Making it as a Birthday Dinner request for tomorrow night!!
This chicken was excellent! There is just the right balance between the tart of the lemon and the sweetness of the bbq sauce. The chicken remains juicy and succulent, and the sauce it creates is very tasty. Thumbs up!
I really enjoyed this recipe. The chicken was moist and flavourful and both my husband and I enjoyed the taste. We didn't find the lemon overpowering, although I only put one lemon half in the cavity. I will definitely make this recipe again!
