Slow cooker desserts?
When do you appreciate your slow cooker the most? Most likely when you are pressed for time and you feel like having a delicious home cooked meal. You are sure to love it even more when you learn that you can also use it to make yummy desserts! Yes, you read right!
The type of desserts we are talking about here are those that require a long cooking time at a low temperature. The slow cooker is your best ally when it comes to all your stewed fruit and jam recipes. And you can make them without have to keep a constant eye on them. All you have to do in most cases is follow your usual recipe and leave it to cook at a very low temperature.
You can also use it for homemade pudding recipes. Here is an easy one to make
3/4 cup short grain white rice, uncooked
1 ¼ cups of evaporated milk, skimmed
2 cups of water
1/3 cup of granulated sugar
1 tsp of vanilla
3/4 tsp of salt
1 cinnamon stick
It so simple, all you have to do is mix together the 7 ingredients, put them in the slow cooker, cover and let it cook 4-5 hours on low, stirring once or twice.
