The best spaghetti sauce!
Who do you think makes the best spaghetti sauce in the world? I imagine you all saying, wholeheartedly: “my mom!”
I underwent a quick survey to find out which ingredients are key to success…
Primo: garlic, a key ingredient. Don’t be shy; add one or two more cloves than usual. Instead of adding them at the beginning, put them in the pot near the very end, when there are only fifteen minutes or so remaining. This way, the garlicky flavour stands out more.
Secundo: parmesan; it is responsible for all the richness in the sauce. Instead of sprinkling it over each dish, mix it right into the pot while it is gently cooking. There is no better marriage of tastes than parmigiano and tomatoes. It’s also interesting to note that when the cheese is added during cooking, it is the final touch which helps to blend all of the ingredients together.
Tertio: hot pepper flakes. However, moderation is key. You want to make sure you don’t overpower the sauce; merely titillate the taste buds by adding a little bit of personality.
