Looking forward to Halloween…
Halloween is almost here! Are you planning to carve a jack-o-lantern this weekend?
If you are, here is an idea to minimize the waste when it comes to emptying out your pumpkin…Why not turn the seeds into a snack!
- To begin, wash the seeds well with water, and then dry them with a clean dish towel.
- Next, prepare a mix of your favourite spices or this mix: a little oil, a pinch of salt, a pinch of paprika, and garlic powder.
- Last but not least, coat the seeds with the seasoning mix. Spread them out on a cookie sheet and cook them for 30 minutes at 300°F, or until they are crispy.
When I was little, my mother used to make this treat every year. The flavour always makes me think of fall, and they are a great alternative to chips!
Another good tip: to stop your jack-o-lantern from turning black before Halloween, put a little lemon juice on the pumpkin flesh. It’s environmentally friendly and it really works!
On that note, have fun this weekend and don’t hesitate to try different variations of spices on your seeds, and share your favourite recipe.
