Looking forward to Halloween…

Halloween is almost here! Are you planning to carve a jack-o-lantern this weekend?

If you are, here is an idea to minimize the waste when it comes to emptying out your pumpkin…Why not turn the seeds into a snack!

  • To begin, wash the seeds well with water, and then dry them with a clean dish towel.
  • Next, prepare a mix of your favourite spices or this mix: a little oil, a pinch of salt, a pinch of paprika, and garlic powder.
  • Last but not least, coat the seeds with the seasoning mix. Spread them out on a cookie sheet and cook them for 30 minutes at 300°F, or until they are crispy.

When I was little, my mother used to make this treat every year. The flavour always makes me think of fall, and they are a great alternative to chips!

Another good tip: to stop your jack-o-lantern from turning black before Halloween, put a little lemon juice on the pumpkin flesh. It’s environmentally friendly and it really works!
