Spending Valentine’s Day with the kids!
St. Valentine’s isn’t just a special occasion for couples; it’s a day that kids like to celebrate too. This year, why not concoct a special St. Valentine’s dessert for them. They are sure to love it!
We suggest a cake in the shape of a heart; it takes no time at all, and you don’t even need to go out and buy a heart-shaped cake pan! Here is what you’ll need:
- Your favourite flavour cake recipe, doubled.
- A square cake pan.
- A round cake pan.
To make a heart shape, bake one cake recipe in the square pan, and the other in the round one. When you take them out of the oven, let them cool a bit. Then, cut the round cake down the middle into two equal parts. Position the square cake so it looks like a diamond, and then place the two semi-circles on the two opposing upper sides of the square. And there’s your heart!
All that’s left to do is decorate it with the kids! Obviously red or pink icing is a must! After that, let your imagination run wild…you can use liquorice, little cinnamon hearts, heart-shaped chocolates, or any kind of edible sparkles and sprinkles!
